I want to sleep in my closet…

I am a thrift store junkie, if you haven’t gotten that memo, so this allows me to obtain more expensive clothes that I would otherwise not be able to own. These clothes end up being very beautiful to look at and I would like to have them on display instead of in a little, cold, dark room with a door. Since I don’t have the luxury of turning a bedroom into a closet, I have decided to sleep in my closet. Lol. I will be making my bedroom resemble a beautiful custom closet and here are some of my inspiration photos. It makes me happy every time I see one of these pictures, just picture them with a bed. Cute right?  Enjoy and Love Always…

New Recipe Alert 3!!!

027

Y’all know I Love a new recipe, so here we go. I have decided to add more pics of the ingredients to help anyone who would like to try it out. To be honest, sometimes the new recipes don’t make it to the old recipe pile but this one was  actually really good. I think I will change the choice of sauce though. Try it out and let me know how you liked it and what you would change.

Oops! I didn’t show you what that green stuff is, that would be a baby spinach and kale mix that I actually use for juicing, and yes I threw it right in the pot with the pasta. Hey it worked. The Market Pantry brand pasta you see is from Target and their store brand is just as good and the reduction in price helps offset the cost of the “meat”.

Enjoy and Love Always…

New Recipe Alert 2!!

This is one of my favorite sandwiches to make now. It is the Morning Star Buffalo “chicken” patty with pepper jack cheese and spicy homemade coleslaw. I get the bag coleslaw and coleslaw sauce from Hidden Valley and I add Jamaican peppers. Sorry I didn’t post pics of that, next time. I’m a spicy kind of girl, so you will see that I use it in quite a few meals. Enjoy and Love Always…

No meat please…

Okay guys so I told you I was going to show you the alternative to meat products I buy now that I have made the decision to exclude meat from my meals. I find the Morning Star products are really good to try if you are just starting your vegetarian journey. There is an Italian sausage that is not pictured here because it is hard to find but it is really good and my kids love it. And actually when first introducing the “chicken” patties to the boys they didn’t even know it wasn’t meat. I found all of these products at Target but they are being carried more and more places. There is a Wholefoods Market trip in the near future that I will share with you guys. I might even vlog it. I’m anticipating an awesome selection there. I will be posting some of the meals that I used these products in.

I also wanted to show you the types of cereal I buy now too, while we are in the kitchen, because we are definitely cereal lovers over here. I would buy about, I want to say 15 boxes but it’s probably more like 20 on a good day. That was probably the hardest thing to change about my eating habits but once I decided to make healthier eating decisions, that absolutely had to change. I don’t drink cows milk anymore either so I switched to almond milk and sometimes I will get soy milk, but I like almond milk better. Target has a really good store brand of almond milk and at a good price too because it can get pricey. Although it is not good for making the instant pudding mix I use for making banana pudding, so that is where I will buy Lactaid.

I saved the best for last because this honey graham cereal is my FAVORITE. It taste better than Golden Grahams if you ask me.

Loving Life is a decision I made…

imagesIUN9XNUE

Throughout my posts you will hear me mention how much “I Love” the many things I decide to talk to you guys about and that is because of the depth in the meaning of the above quote. When you find things that give you joy, you actually secrete a hormone in your body that simulates the effects of drugs. It gives you these happy feelings that feed your soul and I believe helps with the day to day crap we are forced to deal with on a regular basis. When I have these moments I can instantly pick any one of my many topics to concentrate my thoughts on and end up feeling so much better and more able to push through. This takes practice and an almost constant focus on the things, people, places, or goals that give you these loving feelings. It takes exploring who you really are and finding what brings you peace. There are too many things in life to upset us, destroy our peace, and distract us from what’s really important in our life.  God is Love and He will help you find the things that will make life the most wonderful experience and in fact help life Love you back. Make a decision to Love as many good things as possible. I found that it helps to Love as many people as possible as well. Don’t forget to Love yourself first.

Love Always…

Out with the boys in NYC!!!

I really enjoy being in Manhattan, even more at night with all the pretty lights, diverse people and beautiful architecture. I was born and raised in this awesome city and would like to enjoy all that is has to offer. I want to share these moments with my children and would Love to show you all of our moments. This night, me and my two youngest boys Royal and Ty decided to explore 42nd street and hit up Dave and Buster’s. We had a ball playing a bunch of games, but to be honest they just wanted to win as many of them tickets as possible and then we were off to Red Lobster’s restaurant for dinner. We had such a good time. Enjoy and Love always…

P.S. – I could not leave without playing that oldschool Pacman game, which gave no tickets by the way, but was fun anyway.

BeWeave it or not it’s a wig…

I Love doing hair, and although I do all different kinds of things to hair, like braiding, cutting, coloring, dreading, I have been putting in weaves the longest. Since I was 16 years old and I am now…but This is the first time I have made myself a wig. I went on youtube and there you have it. You really can learn to do just about anything, it’s awesome. I had a couple of kinks to work out because my wig would be special due to the shaved section of my hair that I would not be covering. Here are some pics of the struggle, I mean process…

First let me show you some befores…

004 005 007

I starting growing my dreads in 2012. Because they are starting to get rather long, I have to find creative ways to fit them under the weave/wig.

003 013 014 015

The process took a little longer for various reasons but yeah half way through I stopped for a cookie break. Not no ordinary cookie okay, it had brownie on the inside. Okay back to work, I had to rig the manikin head because it kept sliding around in circles. I do have it attached to the table with the clamp but that is the reason you see a piece of cloth under the head, between the manikin and the clamp, and one of the reasons why it took a little longer than expected. The other is the reason why you see the rubber band holding the wig cap on the head. I had to cut out the mesh where my shaved hair would be so when the hair became heavy in the back, the wig kept falling off. Where there is a will, there is a way. This quote is very true.

The afters…

New Recipe Alert!

I love cooking. I get a sense of peace taking random ingredients and putting them together to create a meal that people (mostly my children) will enjoy. The healthier the better these days. I have been a vegetarian that eats seafood for almost 2years now. I know there is a special name for this…Pescetarianism. I just found out, while googling the spelling of this word , that this term was first introduced in 1993. So it is a fairly new word to use, although, I still do not use it. People still don’t even know the difference between vegetarian and vegan, I choose not to confuse them further. But anyway, I feel limited in my recipes and am always in search of new meal ideas. Sometimes it’s not even a search, it is just putting together what I have in the kitchen and creating something I haven’t made before. I do use meat substitutes, that I will show you in depth in another post, that help me retain some of the old recipes known to my children. When I am successful in finding/creating a new recipe, I announce it with joy as my kids look at me like I’m crazy. It’s fun and can’t seem to stop myself from doing it, so….NEW RECIPE ALERT!! Love Always…

I enjoyed this meal even after the second, I mean third plate. The only thing I would change is the shrimp with the tails. They are not good to use in this dish. Try it out and enjoy.

Pin Me!!

I have to say that I Love a lot of things, it is what makes life bearable. The more you find to enjoy, the less you see what can make you sad. Pinterest has found a beautiful way of bringing me great joy, mostly because they cover so many categories all in one place. Go check out my boards @yshanaquay. Here are some of the things you will see. Thank me later. Love always…
